Kipchumba Murkomen, the Elgeyo Marakwet senator and close ally of Deputy President William Ruto tied the knot with his wife, Gladys Wanjiru in 2017.
In a past interview with The Standard in 2014, Murkomen revealed that his wife was at the centre of his life. By then, the two already had two boys and one girl.
According to the senator, the two met the day he joined campus and theres was love at first sight.
"She was my classmate and although she resisted my advances at first, I eventually had a breakthrough in my second year. We dated for six years before we got married," Murkomen stated.
Wanjiru is a lawyer by profession, just like her husband. The two graduated together with law degrees from the University of Nairobi in 2005.
The senator has often heaped praise on his wife, stating that she has cushioned the family from his busy schedule.
"She is my most valuable supporter. I also try my best to create quiet time, which I spend with my wife. It is actually tough. I love helping my children with homework and reading Bible stories to them, but sometimes my schedule does not allow me to do that.
"However, I always make sure if I am home on Sunday, I take the children to Sunday school and take the family for outings," Murkomen disclosed.
Wanjiru is a staunch Christian just like the husband. She usually spares time to share Bible verses on social media.
"What He promises, He fulfils. A faithful God He is," Wanjiru posted on Facebook in June 2018.
