Opposition leader Raila Odinga's funny bone left Kibra residents in stitches after he took a jab at former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.
Speaking at DC Grounds in Kibra on Sunday, November 10, the ODM Party leader made remarks about photos of Khalwale wielding stones that went viral on November 7.
The AU envoy mocked that the former legislator had turned into a geologist and was checking for minerals in the stones he was pictured carrying.
"He left Ikolomani recently for Kibra as a geologist. He took stones from Kibra and then he began to check if there was gold in them," he joked.
As the crowd went wild with laughter, Odinga was unable to put up a straight face and let out a chuckle.
The ODM thanksgiving service was in honour of Benard 'Imran' Okoth victory in the November 7 by-election.
During the Kibra poll, the former senator was involved in running battles with Kibra youth as displayed by videos and photos that took the internet by storm.
In one of the clips, Khalwale, who had refused to leave after orders from rowdy youth, resolved to beat the residents at their own game.
He instead went for two sizeable rocks which were ostensibly supposed to help defend himself.
Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo who was also present at the thanksgiving event, ordered Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to immediately arrest Khalwale over the same.
"I saw Khalwale carrying stones, and I want to tell Matiang'i to immediately arrest the former senator," she demanded.
Millie further claimed that Khalwale started the violence that was witnessed during the voting exercise.
"He is the one who initiated violence in Kibra yet the residents were peaceful that day," Millie spoke.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya also condemned the former legislators' act, and in the process, begged for forgiveness.
"I have come on behalf of the residents of Kakamega, to ask for forgiveness after what Khalwale did during the poll," the governor pleaded.
