Murkomen's Video Cooking Brown Ugali Goes Viral

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen showcased his little unknown culinary skills when he shared a video of himself cooking traditional ugali.

In the video, posted on Thursday, January 2, the Senate majority leader could be seen seated inside a mudwalled kitchen, kneading black golden ugali in a three-stone jiko

"Back to my roots. Showing the kids how to knit and knead black golden ugali. Alafu harers waongee mbaya (Let my critics talk). In the year 2020, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," Murkomen stated.

The senator went on to state how the meal, comprising of millet, maize and cassava flour, is prepared.

"At this stage, you lower the heat by removing the firewood and allow the ugali to cook slowly as you turn it from time to time.

"That’s what separates Ugali experts from slay queens/Kings," Murkomen trolled.

His cooking excited netizens who lauded him for upholding his humble background.

"I like that mheshimiwa. I am also in Kisii doing brown ugali almost every evening. I just like it," David Ogwagwa commented.

"I really like your actions and commitment, you're bridging the gap of ordinary and dignitary," Cavin Odera applauded.

However, others hit back at Murkomen, accusing him of staging publicity stunts.

"Already was cooked. That's how you are stealing from us," James Nyambane criticised.

"And then after your PR gimmicks, you will leave those kids in that type of house/kitchen. Build them a decent house/kitchen," Patrick Amin urged.
