NMG Listed in Top 100 Global Brands

Nation Media Group received an international nod for a successful year in 2019, when it was listed in the 2019 World Finance 100 list.

NMG, which owns NTV and Daily Nation newspaper along with several other media brands, joined top global brands such as Apple, Nike and Carrefour.

Published by the London-based World Media News, The World Finance 100 celebrates companies that have reached the pinnacle of achievement across a wide variety of fields of expertise.

In the list, released in January 2020, also recognised were Samsung, Hitachi, Walmart, Zenith Bank, Novartis, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

Shelter Afrique a Pan-African housing development financer, was the other Kenyan company recognised in the list.

It also recognises organisations and individuals that lead the way in driving their industries forward.

“The current stagnation places businesses in a predicament. They could invest now in an attempt to capture greater market share or hold off in the hope that tomorrow will deliver a more supportive economic climate.

“Despite this uncertainty, some firms have pressed on, aware that standing still is rarely the right approach. The organisations acknowledged by the World Finance 100 have been recognised for the ability to lead their respective industries even in unfavourable conditions,"  the publication stated.

In pursuit of dominance and more success in Kenya, NMG announced new changes in the NTV editorial management, hoping to enhance its content.

“In order to achieve the highest possible standards of quality and professionalism, plan our content better, improve the way we work and allow people to work to their strengths, a new structure has been developed and will take effect tomorrow 20th January 2020," a notice read.

Staffers were redeployed and reshuffled, in a move which saw key staff such as investigative journalist Dennis Okari land new positions. Okari was named the new Special Projects Editor.

The latest shake-up is reminiscent of the last major change at the media house in 2018 when the station put together a new team of presenters.

Some of their lead presenters such as Larry MadowoNimrod Taabu and Jamila Mohammed left during the 2018 re-alignment, however, no major departures have been announced following the latest changes.
