A police officer attached to Kiptagich Police Station was lucky to escape death after crashing a police vehicle in Nakuru County.

A clip that surfaced on Wednesday, July 15, showed the Toyota Land Cruiser that had rammed into a fence with the officer looking visibly drunk.

Residents responded to the accident as they tried to hold back the police officer from returning to the car which he wanted to drive away in.

"It is better to lock it, then we help you. God has helped you so let another person assist you," noted a resident present at the scene.

The police office struggled to find his balance and had blood oozing from his face as a result of the impact.

The residents, who were mostly boda boda operators in the area, did not appear to wear masks despite their kind act of saving the officer.

This comes after two police officers from Navakholo Police Station in Kakamega County were involved in an accident on Monday July 6.

The Toyota Land Cruiser they were traveling in crashed into a church building in Ingotse, damaging the wall.

According to local residents, a female police officer was being trained on how to drive by a male colleague.

The vehicle was being driven at a high speed when it lost control and rammed into the church as the driver was trying to maneuver a sharp corner.

Residents demanded action to be taken on the police as one of the officers was  injured in the incident.
