At least 10 Officers Commanding Police Division (OCPDs) in Nairobi have been moved in a reshuffle by the police service.

In the new changes, Dagoretti sub-county commander Issa Mohamed was moved to Machakos where he will now serve as the county commander.

He will take over from Karanja Muiruri who was earlier promoted to Nyanza Regional Police Commander.

Francis Wahome will replace Mohamed as the new Dagoretti police boss.

At the same time, Kayole Division police boss Isaac Thuranira was moved to Kirinyaga with Philip Wambugu taking his previous position.

Richard Muguai who served at the Gigiri station was moved to police headquarters, Vigilance House and named the deputy head of Chief Transport Officer.

Several changes have been made in Nairobi since Coast Regional Commander Yakub Rashid was moved to Nairobi in August 2020.

A month since his appointment, almost all officers were moved from the Kilimani station in a reshuffle he stated was meant to boost operations.

This changes come days after National Security Advisory Council headed by Joseph Kinyua unveilled a raft of measures that politicians are expected to follow before holding public rallies.

The commission has appealed to the country's senior most leaders to demonstrate visible and positive leadership by persuading their rank and file and their supporters to hold onto peaceful, cohesive and united Kenya.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai defended the changes in the service stating that they were informed by various factors.

“The National Police Service (NPS) strictly removes officers who have served in operation areas after three to four years. A few may take slightly longer based on their professionalism like drivers and signalers,” he stated on Tuesday, October 13.
