Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has written to the Clerk of the National Assembly asking that his monthly contributions to the Jubilee Party be reduced from Ksh10,000 to Ksh50.
In a letter dated Monday, February 8, the legislator confirmed that Ksh9,950 would be channeled to the Kazi ni Kazi Welfare Group.
“I hereby Instruct that a monthly deduction of Ksh9,950 from my salary account be done in favour of Kazi ni Kazi Welfare Group effective March 1, 2021,” part of the letter reads.Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi during the court proceedings on September 14, 2020.
Sudi, a strong member of the Tanga Tanga brigade, is among the legislators who have expressed their dissatisfaction at the manner in which the ruling party is conducting its affairs.
The legislator, in July 2020, turned down his appointment by the party to become a Parliamentary committee member. He castigated the nomination arguing that he had no interest in serving under President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"I have been nominated to a committee. I ask that you remove me because I have no desire to serve in any capacity under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"We are not beggars, we are the ones who formed the government, but it is being driven by corrupt and selfish individuals," Sudi stated.
Sudi along with other Tanga Tanga brigade have faulted Jubilee for sidelining them in key state affairs. The rift widened when Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju barred Deputy President William Ruto from accessing the party headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi County.
This led to the registration of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), previously identified as Party for Development and Reform (PDR), by Tanga Tanga camp aimed at driving the Hustler narrative to the grassroots.
The move, however, was not received by Jubilee Party officials, and who promised to monitor the behaviour of party members who affiliated themselves with UDA.
"We are following up on the matter, we will take action against them where we find culpability," Jubilee Chairman Nelson Dzuya stated.Deputy President William Ruto at Jubilee Party headquarters on September 22, 2020File
