Tragedy as KCPE Candidate Dies After Giving Birth

A Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate from Pesi Primary School in Aberdares Sub-County, Nyandarua County died shortly after giving birth.

The pupil is said to have died on Tuesday, March 23, at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital where she had been rushed.

According to the police, the girl went into labor a few minutes before beginning to write the Science paper, which started at 8.30 am. 

Reports indicate that after going into labor, she was quickly rushed to Pesi Dispensary where she successfully gave birth at 10:10 am.

According to a police report, both the mother and the child suffered some complications moments after the delivery.

The school is said to have called an ambulance to rush the girl to the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital for specialized treatment. Unfortunately, the teenage mother died shortly after being admitted to the hospital.

According to the police report, the young girl died due to excessive bleeding. 

In line with the Education CS George Magoha's directive, a teacher and a police officer had been assigned to ensure the girl continues with her exams after giving birth before the unfortunate happened.

In a separate case also involving a KCPE candidate, a pupil identified as Elias Munene died on Monday, March 22, after another student allegedly hit him with a stone after an argument.

Reports indicated that Munene was among the top-performing candidates of Luciuti Primary School, in Igembe North suffering a huge loss as the deceased
