Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, has secured a full college scholarship for three needy students.

Through his social media page on Saturday, October 30, Kibicho revealed that he has secured funds to support the education of three students at the Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Medical Training College after participating in a charity walk.

He took part in the charity event with an aim of raising Ksh10 million to support needy students in the institution.

"Three students at Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Medical Training College will benefit from full sponsorship. I believe even the smallest contribution of kindness and empathy is enough to generate a domino effect that will inspire a great change and leave an indelible mark in the world," Kibicho stated.

Kibicho further added the drive was meant to raise funds to build a hospital in Kirinyaga.

"The charity walk organized by Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Medical Training College to create a Kshs 10M revolving fund for needy students is one of the most benevolent gestures I have seen in my life. That's what you get from strong collaboration between state and non-state actors," he stated.

He added, "We have undertaken to marshal more donors and well-wishers to come on board and support the plan by Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Medical Training College to establish a fully-fledged referral hospital in Kirinyaga. What a noble cause!"

The act of kindness comes just months after Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, also rescued a stranded student.

The Interior CS paid full university fees for 19-year-old Lavinia Mumbe.

"Matiang'i met us, and it was overwhelming to hear that he would clear my entire fees. He stated that he would pay directly via the bank.

"He also supported my mother with a token and advised me on how to be focused and disciplined in school. I am so grateful," Lavinia recalled.

Lavinia in her message of appreciation told Matiang'i that she would not let him down and plans to give back to society.

"I would not be joining university if it were not for him. I will not let him down as I am smart and a hard worker," Lavinia promised.
