President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended a helping hand by rescuing two stranded school girls.

The two high school students, in form two and four, had been compelled to remain at home due to outstanding fees balances.

Their plight caught the attention of the Head of State through a story that was aired on Citizen TV on Wednesday, November 3.

Giving them a flying start, the President personally cleared their school fees arrears allowing them to be admitted back to Getembe Mixed Secondary School.

The State House Comptroller, Kinuthia Mbugua, through Mike Gitone, facilitated the payment of their schools on Thursday, November 4, putting a smile on the girls' faces.

The sisters received coverage during the Jeff Koinange Live Show on Citizen TV and appealed for well-wishers to bail them out.

Other than just being high school students, the sisters are certified class three referees under the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF).

They have been officiating matches in the lower league in Kisii County, converting the little tokens awarded to them to support their families.

To support their ambition in match officiating, Uhuru also promised to establish a programme that will see them advance to become top-class FIFA referees in the future.

Their passion is to officiate top football matches on the International stage.

The assistance offered by President Uhuru is seen as a stepping stone for the sisters whose families live in abject poverty in the rural areas of Kisii. Despite being young, they are the breadwinners of their families.
