Ex-NTV Journalist Joins BBC

Brian Osweta, a former journalist working for Nation Media Group, has joined the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).The enthusiastic journalist took to social media on Tuesday, December 7, to share the announcement. 

"His Grace has, is and will always be sufficient for me. Thank you Jesus! You deserve all the Glory! Truly, it has been a year of Great Expansion!" he stated.

The announcement comes a day after he revealed his exit from NTV where he worked as a data journalist at the data journalism desk. His work mainly involved conceptualising and executing data driven projects that lead to compelling and in depth stories.

"I am extremely grateful to Nation for all the opportunities, and growth I have experienced during my time here (it truly is one of the best training grounds for journalists).

"Today, one year later, I leave well-equipped and prepared to face my next assignment," read Osweta's message while announcing his exit.

Prior to joining NTV, the journalist worked at various radio stations which launched his media career. In August 2011, he joined Shine FM where he worked as a radio presenter for Upbeat; a three-hour drive show that aired on Thursdays. 

He shifted to One FM in January 2015 and later on to Baraka FM where he did field reporting, features and also online stories. After amassing over two years and 10 months, Osweta was awarded the coveted Chevening Scholarship to study a Masters in International Journalism at Cardiff University, for the year 2018/2019. Afterwards, he jumped ship to NMG

BBC has been on a poaching spree with various seasoned and young journalists joining the prestigious company.

Recently, former Ebru TV's news anchor and Business host, Lucy Riley, joined BBC whereby she is set to take the place of Hudheifa Aden, who was a business news anchor.

At Ebru, Riley anchored the news on Friday and Sunday nights at prime time as well as presented lunchtime news on Tuesday and Thursday. 

She was also responsible for hosting a weekly business show that aired every Tuesday that targeted the youth and SMEs with skills and knowledge to grow and scale up their business. Riley was also the producer of the show.
