Billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich Kiprop, popularly known as Buzeki, has revealed his plans to build public dormitories in Nairobi County.

Speaking during a social media engagement with his followers on Saturday, January 29, the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant noted that the dorms would be designed to host over 400 youth mostly drawn from his county.

He explained that Nairobi was the hub of employment in the country adding that many youth were facing accommodation challenges when looking for employment within the city.

The billionaire politician added that with the sad state of the Kenyan economy, a section of city residents opt not to host their relatives who look for employment within Nairobi.

“60 percent of the job market is in Nairobi so it is the biggest potential job market in Kenya. When the youth come to Nairobi they do not have relatives and therefore they do not have anywhere to stay.

“With the burden of the economy, you cannot go and stay at a friend's place for two days. I am going to build a hostel for Uasin Gishu in Nairobi that will accommodate between 400 to 600 people and we are going to put basic amenities,” he stated.

The business tycoon added that the program would also ensure that the job seekers are provided with food during their three-month stay at the facilities.

“In the morning we shall give tea and bread for them to go and tarmac in the city. You will come to the county we approve your stay in the Uasin Gishu hostel facilities for 120 days.

“After four months when you don't get a job you come back to Eldoret so that we give another person the opportunity,” he stated.

Additionally, he added that he would seek partnerships with various companies in the city to offer internship opportunities for the job seekers.

Buzeki also hit out at Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi who had earlier criticised the plan stating that the county would be exporting talent from Uasin Gishu to Nairobi.

“We are trying to get a solution because staying in Nairobi can be a very big problem to many people.

“I am sure that out of the 400 apart from those who I will push to the companies that we will be having internship programs with, 50 to 70 youth will have jobs simply because they had a place to stay,” he stated.
