The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have issued a statement regarding a mass recruitment advertisement for a two-year training programme.
In a statement dated Saturday, March 12, KDF noted that the job advert circulated in the country was fake and misleading.
"Our attention has been drawn to a fake online advertisement on the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise for a Traineeship Programme being circulated on various social media platforms.
"We wish to state that the KDF is not currently engaged in any recruitment exercise," read the statement.
In the advert that attracted KDF's reproach, recruits were lured to apply for recruitment with the promise of a monthly stipend close to Ksh20,000.
KDF cautioned applicants from providing their personal details as the fake application portal required.
KDF further warned applicants from being swindled and urged them to regularly check with its website or look out for formal announcements from verified media houses.
"Kindly be advised that KDF recruitment exercise is advertised through mainstream media, website, and our social media platforms.
"In view of the foregoing, we, therefore, wish to urge members of the public to be wary of fraudsters and disregard the fake alerts," KDF stated.
in the recent past, a spate of fake recruitments targeting the KDF, National Police Service (NPS), the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Kenya Prisons Services have been shared.
In some of the cases, Kenyans have lost their hard-earned money to swindlers.
