Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has accused Deputy President William Ruto of registering with two political parties using separate documents.

The lawmaker claimed that Ruto used his passport to register as a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party after using his National Identity Card to register with Jubilee Party.

Kega further questioned why the DP would use separate documentation.

“We are all aware that Ruto has registered in UDA using his passport and in Jubilee using his ID so that he can reside in both parties. This is the level of dishonesty our leaders have,” Kega claimed.

Jubilee Party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni also accused Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi of the same, noting that it was a matter of concern to the ruling party.

According to Kioni, Wamatangi sent the party a letter claiming that he was still a member of the ruling Jubilee Party despite announcing that he was vying for the Kiambu Gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket.

"This is political conmanship and we do not advocate for such. We have a report that Wamatangi used his National ID to register in Jubilee and he registered in UDA with his Kenyan passport," the Jubilee Party sec gen stated.

"He might find it hard to even vie for a political seat in this country," he added.

Last week, the party announced it kicked out Wamatangi, from his Majority Whip after he joined UDA. In a letter addressed to him by Kioni, the Senator was deemed to have resigned from his position.

The party further ordered him to cease, with immediate effect, holding the office of the Majority Chief Whip in the Senate.

Kioni referenced the UDA rally held in Thika, where the Kiambu Senator declared his allegiance to the DP outfit.

Notably, the law does not specify whether a person should use one specific document when applying for membership with a political party.

Meanwhile, Jubilee Party has already registered 5,326 aspirants across the country and is actively campaigning under the Azimio La Umoja movement.
