A family in Nairobi is still celebrating after a pair of twins who have never tied in class broke their own records in the just released 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.

The fraternal twins, Bett Lindsey Kiprotich and Bett Lee Kiprotich scored 414 marks emerging among the best performers in the country with the top candidate, Magata Bruce Makenzi of Gilgil Hills Academy, beating them with only 14 marks.

The results of the duo caught the attention of many since they had never tied in class except in Mathematics, which surprisingly, they also scored the same marks in the national test.

In other subjects, they all scored straight As with varying margins.

They both schooled at Mountain View School in Nairobi which also posted impressive results in the highly competitive exams.

"Sometimes, he would get 380 and I would get a 410, the first time it is happening," Lindsey stated.

"We would only tie in Math where we would both get 100 or 95 per cent," she added.

According to their parents, they did not expect their fraternal twins to be among the top achievers in the country owing to school calendar disruption that was caused by the pandemic.

Lindsey stated that she hopes to join The Kenya High School while her brother is eyeing Mang'u High School.

Elsewhere, identical twins from Lwak Girls Primary School also recorded impressive performance. The two,Jesica Adongo scored 413 marks while her sister Josephine Apiyo managed 408.

The school’s headteacher Beatrice Vera attributed their stellar performance to hard work and discipline.

"Our twins have always been hardworking and focused," their father stated.

Following the release of exams, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha noted that all pupils will transition to high school.

He also congratulated the teachers for their efforts in ensuring that the exams were strictly administered  with few cases of malpractice being recorded countrywide.
