Police have arrested four of their colleagues in a raid conducted in an estate in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the four police officers from the Kamukunji Police Station were accused of graft.

The DCI reported that the cops, who were placed in custody, were further accused of leaving their place of work without permission and committing acts amounting to corruption.

Detectives stated that the four officers, in the company of two civilians imposed themselves as officials of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).

They then pitched camp at Tuala, Ongata Rongai where they planned to extort unsuspecting civilians.

"The four had without authorization from the station command, allocated themselves duties and proceeded to the said area, to purportedly arrest two suspects on suspicion of being in possession of nylon papers.

"They are currently in custody as investigations proceed before disciplinary action is taken against them," the sleuths stated as they warned other officers against breaking the law.

The DCI continues to highlight and report incidents where officers are caught redhanded engaging in crime.

Earlier this week, CCTV footage from a local joint in Kasarani, Nairobi County showed a scuffle that ensued between a police boss and his two juniors.

In the footage, the two juniors were seen accosting the Kayole DCIO into the bar in an apprehensive manner. The three officers engage in a scuffle leading to other revellers within the local joint attempting to intervene.

One of the officers forcefully handcuffed the Kayole police boss and whisked him away. At the time, other revellers had scampered for safety.

Kasarani OCPD, Peter Mwanzo, confirmed the scuffle did take place at an entertainment joint within his locality. He stated that the matter was an internal dispute and was already taken care of.

An initial police report had indicated that the senior officer was accused of reprimanding a woman for smoking at the joint.
