Inooro FM radio presenter Muturi wa Muiru was on Sunday, November 13, ordained as an elder at PCEA Unity church Umoja, Nairobi.
In a service that was graced by his family, the presenter reaffirmed his commitment to the Holy Book as the ultimate authority in his life.
The Royal Media journalist pledged to carry out his duties with integrity and humility, intending to set a positive example for others. Before the congregation, he knelt and was dedicated.
Besides hosting a funeral announcement show from 8 to 9 p.m., Muturi is also known for his gospel program, Kimuri kia Inooro, which airs from 1 to 2 p.m.
Muturi's first duty as a PCEA elder will be to manage the activities of the Church, in collaboration with other elders.
He will be expected to serve as an example of fundamental principles and give the assembly a scriptural direction of how to live a righteous life.
The broadcaster cum clergy will also take part in activities that advance the goal of the Church, which is to make disciples who belong, grow, serve, and reach both in their own spiritual journeys and in their ability to impact others' spiritual journeys.
It will be expected of Muturi to offer prayers for the needs of the flock, and offer leadership in enuring that the congregation is spiritually nourished.
He will also be tasked with challenging individuals who do not live in accordance with the teachings of the church and the bible.
The radio host will have to defend the church by mediating and presiding over matters that could lead to discord among its membership of believers.
In order to safeguard the church and the members of its body, he will decide on and uphold corporate discipline that is required by or justified by scripture.
The church expects Muturi to encourage church ministers and offer consolation, comfort, persuasion, counseling, education, and accountability.
Born and bred in Kiambu county, the broadcaster had passion for media and service in his formative years. He worked as master of ceremony for social events, including sports, before joining college.
He is a veteran vernacular radio presenter, having joined Inooro FM in early 2000s.
