Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho wore an exclusive watch retailing at Ksh50 million while on vacation in Dubai.

Photos shared by the former county boss, who was in the company of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Suleiman Shahbal, on Monday, January 10, showed that he was wearing an expensive Richard Mille RM11-02 watch.

A reverse search by Kenyans.co.ke indicated that the timepiece was an automatic flyback chronograph watch from the company's 2016 collection.

Various global retailing shops estimated its price between Ksh50 million and Ksh60 million.

"Skeletonised automatic movement with hours, minutes, seconds, flyback chronograph, 60-minute countdown timer at 9 o’clock, 12-hour totaliser, oversize date, month indicator and variable-geometry rotor," Richard Mille described the timepiece on its website.

The watch is estimated to have a net weight of 0.5 kilograms with a case diameter of 28.45 millimetres and a case thickness of 16.06 millimetres.

From its appearance, the manufacturer of the exclusive watch incorporated 3D quality for visual aesthetics while part of its baseplate was made of grade-five titanium metal.

"This creates a visual itinerary that sweeps around the annual calendar with its oversize date, as well as the 12-hour counter and countdown function of the flyback chronograph.

"The entire flyback chronograph movement is designed for optimal rigidity and high-performance functioning of its gear trains thanks to the grade 5 titanium employed on the baseplate and bridges," read the description in part.

Given the complexity of the watch's system, the RM11-02 has sapphire crystal glass which is scratch resistant.

Notably, only diamonds can scratch the glass.

On the other hand, the strap material is made of rubber with the clasp being a needle buckle.

Richard Mille luxury watch company was founded in 2001 by Richard Mille and Dominique Guenat.

Over the years, the company produced some of the world's most expensive watches with the Richard Mille 056-01 Tourbillon Sapphire going for Ksh420 million.

The former governor was also in the company of popular Bongo star Ommy Dimpoz.
