President William Ruto unveiled Majestic City, which is a vision under Deliverance Church International led by televangelist Bishop Mark Kariuki.

While attending a thanksgiving service at the Ruai-based church on Sunday, February,5 the head of state lauded the project, which is aligned with his government's housing agenda.

Majestic City is a brainchild of Bishop Kariuki which will house various modern facilities, including hospitals and schools

“The vision is expanding fully equipped modern hospitals with various treatment functions, a four-level shopping mall with fully equipped conference halls, an auditorium and a rooftop restaurant.

It will also be home to one, two and three bedroom apartments, Majestic school which will be offering high-quality learning for primary and kindergarten pupils,” Deliverance church announced.

In his speech, Ruto assured the bishop Kariuki of his steadfast support in making his vision come true.

He stated how he was moved by the bishop’s act of having affordable housing as part of his vision, assuring him of investors.

“You have our commitment and support. Thank you, for joining us in creating employment for the youth. We have the plan to build 200,000 affordable housing in Nairobi but I have seen that as Deliverance Church you have already taken 1,500, you have made my work easier,” he noted.

Ruto urged Kariuki directed that the church's head of investment to meet with Housing Principal Secretary (PS) to chart the way forward on finding investors.

“I will support you in looking for investors to help you. Look for your investment representative to meet my PS, Charles Hinga Mwaura. People are ready to work with you so that we can build those houses together.

Thank you to the church for agreeing to work with us on the matter of affordable housing,” he added.

On January 11, Hinga announced that the State was committed to supporting counties in planning their cities and facilitating projects that fall under the national government's mandate.

“This will be possible because of the existing direct link between the counties and the State Department as far as rolling out projects is concerned,” he stated.

On his part, Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja assured Bishop Kariuki that he would also invest in the Majestic City.

Though not declaring how he would do it, he announced that he would share with the bishop privately his planned investment.

“I want to invest, I will not say it here but I will share with the bishop my plan,” the Nairobi boss stated.

Affordable housing is one of Kenya Kwanza's development agenda, which seeks to transform the lives of Kenyans and create employment.

Notably, Ruto was part of Jubilee administration which promised to deliver 500,000 affordable houses by the end of its reign in 2022, a promise that wasn’t fulfilled.
