We will take Maina to Mater Hospital for heart surgery on Monday as preparation for another major surgery in India to happen after three months,” An elated Karangu stated.

The philanthropist, who works closely with Kameme TV presenter Muthee Kiengei, noted that he never realized that Maina was ill even after meeting him until some of his friends raised a concern.

“At first, I thought he was just looking deteriorated due to poverty and hunger. One of my followers noted that he needed to be taken for a check-up as he had signs of heart issues.

That's when I asked his mother who openly revealed that Miana had been suffering from a heart condition since his birth,” Karangu narrated.

Maina’s mother opened up about her struggles with Maina’s health indicating that she stopped taking him for medical checkups due to her financial instability.

“Maina was admitted to Naivasha hospital at three months old but he failed to respond hence being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Five days later, he was discharged after recovering but was still experiencing breathing problems. After an ultrasound, he was found with three heart chambers but due to his age, he would not go through surgery," she explained.

The distraught parent further indicated that her son had been under medication and often went for doctor appointments before she could no longer afford it.

Maina went viral after a clip of him explaining how he survives on Mitumba business was shared widely on social media.

Speaking hilariously about his religion, Miana talked about his humble background, gaining favor from well-wishers who came in to build his family a modern house.

“I am Maina and I attend Wakorino church. I only tie the turban on Sundays because the pastor is only a friend, my God is in heaven. I am in class one and I work in the market in mitumba business with my friend Kamau. After getting paid I take the money to my mother,” the youngster explained in the viral video.
