Jeff Mwathi's girlfriend, Faith Wairimu, on Saturday, March 11, detailed that she had a phone conversation with the deceased two hours before he fell off a building where Lawrence Njuguna alias DJ Fatxo lives.
In a media interview, Wairimu stated that her boyfriend was in a happy mood during the conversation on phone at 3:46 am and had promised her that he would return home afterwards.
The girlfriend added that Mwathi told her that the team had just arrived at the house belonging to the DJ and he was preparing to leave soon after.
Mwathi also shared videos of his whereabouts to assure the girlfriend that he was with the DJ and his entourage and was having a good time.
Additionally, she added that she advised the interior designer to get home in time adding that she urged him to take an online taxi back home.
"We had the last conversation with him at 3:46 am and he shared a video of himself to show me where he was. He called me later on and told me that they had left an entertainment joint and they were in the DJ's place. He told me that he was going to come back home.
"I told him that there was no problem and advised him to use the online taxi services because I was waiting for him. That was the last conversation I had with him," she stated in an interview with Kukiria TV,
She further revealed that she woke up at 6 am and realised that the 23-year-old had not returned home and decided to reach him on his phone.
Mwathi's phone was, however, off and she decided to go to work before later contacting the deceased's relatives to find out his whereabouts who were also not aware
The body of the deceased was later found at the apartment's basement with media reports indicating that he might have fallen from the storey building based in Kasarani minutes after 5 am on February 22.
Detectives based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) took over the case on March 10 following the intervention of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
The detectives visited the apartments the same day and recreated the scene as they sought to unravel what transpired that morning.
On his part, Fatxo indicated that the police would establish what happened to the interior designer noting that everyone was searching for the truth.
"We just want to know the truth and we believe that justice will prevail. My management will give you a date when we can speak and talk more," he stated in an interview with the media.
