A building situated in Juja, Kiambu County, on Wednesday, April 5, elicited debate on the landmark's exact location and amenities.
Photos of the 15-floor building went viral with some arguing whether the premises was located in Nairobi or Kiambu County.
A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke reveals that the building, which is situated about 100 metres from the Juja sub-county offices, is yet to be opened as construction is still ongoing.
The majority of Kenyans also hailed the aesthetic nature of the building with some pointing out its intense and well-lit night lights.
On the other hand, a debate surrounding the structure's electricity bill was also brought into play with some advocating for cost-effective measures to be employed on skyscrapers and buildings.
Some likened the building to another version of China Square.
"Juja is the next 'city' to watch," Wanja Mburu stated.
"This building is on another level. This is very nice for Juja," Beth Njuguna pointed out.
"Juja can develop very fast but the county government keeps on chasing out developers. I pity those who are trying to get a changer of user documents," Kimwaki Peter stated.
Controversy
The building recently came on the spot after members of the Kiambu County Assembly Finance Committee recommended its demolition over claims of violation of safety laws.
Led by Chairman Zack Mbugua, the committee pointed out that only five floors of the building were approved by the county government but ten more floors were added to the structure.
The committee termed the move as impunity of the highest order, noting that the contractors disregarded the safety parameters.
In addition, the committee also expressed concerns over the construction of a petrol station beside the building.
Mbugua advocated for Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi to intervene in the matter but ensure the structure is pulled down.
