KUCCPS Portal 2023: Universities Offering Cheapest Degree Courses [LIST & CHARGES]

After months of anticipation, the 2022 KCSE candidates were allowed to apply and revise the preferred university courses after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened the application portal.

During the launch of the portal, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu affirmed that the KCSE candidates selecting public universities would be eligible for both government scholarships and loans while those choosing private universities would only be eligible for government loans.

According to the KUCCPS portal, 39 public universities and 30 private universities are eligible for Higher Educations and Loan Board (HELB) loans. 189 public colleges from the Ministry of Education are eligible for government scholarships and HELB loans. 

On the other hand, seven Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) were selected.

Bachelor of Commerce

B.COM is one of the most marketable courses for candidates seeking to venture into business management. The cluster points required are a mean Grade C and either an A or B in Mathematics.

Pan Africa Christian University offers the course at a total sum of Ksh312,000 per year while Management University of Africa offers the lowest price of Ksh78,600.

Lukenya University, Mount Kenya University, Zetech University and Gretsa University offer the course at Ksh86,200, Ksh105,000, Ksh130,600 and Ksh132,000 respectively.

University of Nairobi University on the other hand offers the course at a cost of Ksh220,150 for the first academic year.

Bachelor of Education Arts

The institution charging the lowest fees for this course is Kiriri Womens University of Science and Technology pegged at Ksh82,350. Kisii University offers the same course at Ksh283,135. The information was made public during the portal launch. 

KCA University's fee stands at Ksh88,540 while Mount Kenya University's is at Ksh105,000. At Kenyatta University, one can undertake the course at Ksh183,600 per year.

Law

Under Bachelor of Law, students seeking to study at Daystar University will have to part with Ksh335,000 - which offers the highest rates as compared to Mount Kenya University whose rates stand at Ksh170,000.

Chuka University, Kenyatta University and Maseno offer the most affordable rates at Ksh183,000, Ksh183,600 and Ksh183,600 respectively.

At Embu University, students pay Ksh183,600 per year with the first and second semesters costing Ksh23,000 and Ksh19,000 respectively.

At UoN, students must pay Ksh221,850 per year to study law. The minimum cluster point for students seeking to study law is a mean grade B.

Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is another marketable course for various students seeking to venture into health sciences. 
The minimum cluster point is a mean grade of C+.

Catholic University of Eastern Africa  (CUEA) offers the lowest fee rates per year at Ksh188,200 while Daystar University is rated as the most expensive university offering the course at Ksh340,000.

St.Paul's University, Presbyterian University, South Eastern Kenya University and Pwani University also offer affordable rates at Ksh229,450, Ksh251,700 and Ksh275,400 respectively.

Engineering

Students seeking to pursue Civil Engineering as well as Electrical Engineering will have to part with an average sum of Ksh300,000 across all universities offering the Degree programs.
