The cost of university education is a key factor to consider when choosing a course in a Kenyan university for an individual's final leg of their education journey.

Kenyans.co.ke compared and explored fees for courses offered in top universities in Kenya according to The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and compiled a list to help candidates make more informed choices while selecting university courses.

These courses can be a great option for students who are looking for an affordable way to get a quality university education.

University of Nairobi

The University of Nairobi, arguably the best university in Kenya is credited with offering courses for as low as Ksh160,653 in an academic year.

Fees for a Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology) is Ksh189,550 while for a course in Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, learners are expected to pay the same amount for an academic year.

Fees for a Bachelor of Arts in UoN in 2023 was Ksh160,653 and for a Bachelor of Arts (Gender and Development Studies), learners pay Ksh175,950 for the academic year.

University of Eldoret

The cheapest courses offered at the University of Eldoret are Ksh183,600 for every academic year.

The courses include Bachelor of Education (Arts), Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science (Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Science (Project Planning Management), and Bachelor of Arts (Economics). 

Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology

At the Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology(JKUAT), some of the cheapest courses include a Bachelor of Economics where learners pay Ksh183,600 for an academic year. 

Fees for a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Leadership, a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Innovation and Technology Management is Ksh175,950 for an academic year.

At the university, learners pay Ksh 175,950 for a Bachelor of Science in Community Development and Environment as well as for a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Project Management.

Kenyatta University

At the university, the cheapest courses range from Ksh153,000 and Ksh183,600.

For an academic year, learners pay Ksh183,600 for a Bachelor of Education (Library Science), Bachelor of Education (Arts) Fine, Bachelor of Economics and Finance, Bachelor of Education (Physical Education), and a Bachelor of Education Arts (Home Economics).

the cheapest courses at the university include a Bachelor of Arts (Gender and Development Studies), a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), a Bachelor of Arts, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Administration where learners pay Ksh153,000 for an academic year. 

Technical University of Kenya

At the university, learners pay Ksh135,000 for a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy and Ksh162,000 for a Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology.

Additionally, for an academic year, learners pay ksh150,000 for a Bachelor of Technology in Business Information Technology and a Bachelor of Technology in Office Administration and Technology.
