ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo on Tuesday, June 27, tracked down viral TikToker Kassim Mohammed after a four-day search.

In a statement, Owalo stated that the TikToker, who displayed spot-on real-time commentary at live events, had impressed him with his football videos.

The CS, therefore, invited the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC)  Samuel Maina, to the meeting to map out a plan to nurture the talent of the commentator mononymously known as Kassim.

Also in attendance was the CEO of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication Peter Wakoli and other stakeholders.

“I have eventually found Master Kassim Mohamed, a promising youth with great potential for football commentary.

“Together with Samuel Maina, the Acting CEO of KBC and Peter Wakoli, Acting CEO of KIMC, who joined me in meeting the youthful talent,” Owalo stated.

The stakeholders discussed different avenues of nurturing Kassim's talent within the regulatory framework provided in the law.

On Friday, June 23, Owalo asked Kenyans to help him track down Kassim after watching a video of his commentary at a football match in his rural home.

Kassim was surrounded by other locals who enjoyed his work and encouraged him by cheering him on.

"Brilliant. Amazing. this young man is a natural broadcaster, a creator of digital content, and a refreshing role model. How can I contact him? Please notify Kassim that I am looking for him if you know where he can be found," Owalo appealed at the time.

Kenyans were fascinated by the young talent comparing him to renowned journalists across the country. A video of Kassim Mohammed was also featured on a Radio 47 show hosted by media personality Mbaruk Mwalimu.

He presented his craft with enthusiasm and amazed Kenyans with his mastery of Kiswahili despite not having any journalism training.
