Kare Maina: Story of Viral TikToker Who Analysed Jeff Mwathi's Death

Over the past few weeks, the demise of 23-year-old interior designer Jeff Mwathi has made headlines with Kenyans left with questions surrounding the circumstances leading to his death.

In particular, a Kenyan Tiktoker, Wangari Maina alias Kare Maina, took to social media to give a detailed analysis of Mwathi's tragic end and raised key queries about the events and alibis given by DJ Fatxo and those who interacted with Mwathi hours before his death.

Through her videos, she attempted to piece together the final moments of the interior designer, from the time he met with DJ Fatxo, to when they went to his apartment based in Kasarani.

The videos, posted on Thursday, March 9, and Friday, March 10, have garnered over 2.2 million views in four days.

Her analytical skills got former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's attention as he promised to offer her a job at his private investigation firm.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she graduated with a Bachelor of Industrial Chemistry from the Technical University of Kenya in 2018.

She has also collaborated with other popular TikTokers and social media influencers in Kenya.

Captioning the video; more questions than answers, Maina traced the final hours, indicating that Mwathi, DJ Fatxo, the deceased's cousin, the driver and three ladies arrived at the apartment at 3:27 am on February 22, 2023.

Reports indicated that Mwathi had spent the evening of February 21, 2023, in the company of DJ Fatxo, only to fall from the singer's 10th-floor apartment in Kasarani.

DJ Fatxo, who has been at the centre of the probe, recently intimated to the press that he left the apartment to drop the three ladies and returned the following day.

Detectives, however, sought to establish why DJ Fatxo took Mwathi into an entertainment joint and later into his house at night if the sole reason for the meetup was to offer him an interior decor job.

While launching the investigations, detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in the probe.
