A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from a building in the Santon area in Kasarani captured a harrowing incident that was shared widely on Sunday, July 2.
In the video, two assailants were seen attacking and robbing a man inside a car after the driver alighted to open the gate to the home in readiness to reverse and park.
Conscious of the danger posed to him, the victim who was seen opening the gate, scampered for safety, running outside the gate upon being accosted by the two suspects.
The situation intensified as the two men converged on the car, brandishing what appeared to be firearms.
Subsequently, they ordered him to alight and to lie on the ground as they ransacked the car.
The men, wearing black trousers and jackets, reportedly stole items of undisclosed value after asserting authority over the helpless victim.
One of them stood on guard in readiness to accost anyone coming to the victim's help as the others filled what appeared to be a shopping bag.
After swiftly orchestrating the ordeal, the suspects walked away, leaving the left passenger door open.
Moments later, the petrified victim stood up in confusion and scanned the area to ascertain whether the suspects had fled before he rushed to seek help.
The video surfaced a few weeks after police apprehended a suspect captured by CCTV robbing a foreigner along Ngong Road.
Detectives privy to the case released a statement on June 15, stating that the man was part of a gang based at MOGAS Petrol Station along Jogoo Road.
In a separate incident, police also launched a manhunt for a gang terrorising residents in Syokimau in Machakos County.
The suspects were accused of burglary after trespassing into homes while the residents were at work.
