The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that it will close a section of Kenyatta Avenue in a phased manner for 19 consecutive days.
In a statement, the authority noted that the closure will begin on Tuesday, July 25 and conclude on Saturday, August 12.
According to KeNHA, developers will use the allocated time to erect a culvert at the Uhuru Highway Roundabout.
"Kenya National Highways Authority hereby informs the public that a section of Kenyatta Avenue (at Uhuru Highway Roundabout) shall be closed in phases between Tuesday, July 25, to Saturday, August 12.
"The closure shall be done at off-peak hours from 9 pm to 4 am," read the statement in part.
Motorists will thus be unable to access the section of the road for seven hours daily.
KeNHA explained that the construction will be rolled out in four phases. The first phase will run from July 25 to July 26 while the second will be completed between July 28 to August 1.
The third phase will take place between August 3 and August seven while the fourth will be concluded on August 12.
Motorists were urged to exercise caution and road courtesy as they cooperate with police and traffic marshalls for better traffic management.
Kenyatta Avenue, which is a dual carriage highway connecting the Central Business District (CDB) and Upper Hill, is one of the busiest roads within the city.
The highway also serves as a vital link to other major roads, including the Uhuru Highway and Moi Avenue.
A section of the highway was also closed on Sunday, November 27, to pave the way for the then planned Technology Service Providers Association of Kenya (TESPOK) Autism half marathon event.
At the time, it was only closed for 12 hours and 30 minutes for a single day.
