Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday appointed 30 National Government Administrative Officers, known as Trainers of Trainers (ToTs) who will undergo specialised training.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Tuesday, September 26, the ministry indicated that the officers will be trained on a number of emerging issues including security, peace and safety for citizens.
The NGAOS officers will also be trained on public participation, engagement, and communication in order to adequately confront the challenges facing the country presently.
"The Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs), who were selected on merit, will also be trained on other cross-cutting issues, key among them climate change and employee wellness and psychosocial support, after which they will be deployed to cascade the radical shift in mindset to all the ranks within the NGAOS structure.
Interior PS Raymond Omollo explained the objective of the officers is to ensure that every interaction of administrators with mwananchi is marked by empathy and a genuine understanding of their unique needs and concerns.
The PS explained that the appointment of the thirty administrators is part of the ongoing radical changes in the ministry to cascade shifts within NGAOS structure.
"The government is progressively accelerating the implementation of its visionary blueprint on socio-economic empowerment and inclusive prosperity under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
"The plan encompasses an array of transformative programs and interventions designed to elevate every section of the society, with citizens and communities at the lowest level of the social ladder acknowledged in the efforts to revolutionize the country's landscape of opportunity," the statement signed by PS Raymond Omollo read in parts.
He noted that his ministry is working with other stakeholders to cement the position of the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) as the driving force behind the strategic interventions in communities.
The Interior Ministry also stated that the appointment will forge an environment where every single citizen will not only thrive but also contribute meaningfully to collective prosperity.
"Being the government's first point of contact with the grassroots, this department plays a pivotal role in transforming service delivery and maximizing the impact of our targeted investments.
"As such, we have purposed to conduct a reorientation program for these officers with the intent to infuse a lead-by-example mindset across the structure and ensure effective, efficient, and responsive services at all levels," the statement read in parts.
The ministry further stated that the motivation for the program is grounded on the fact that the ever-changing times call for renewed ways of doing things.
"In this regard, that which worked yesterday may not always work today or even tomorrow," the statement read in parts.
