Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, has offered to sponsor the education of his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) counterpart, Nuru Okanga scholarship.

Once he receives his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Okanga will not have to worry about his secondary school fees, as he promised to clear it all.

“Congratulations Nuru Okanga for passing the KCPE Exams with flying colours. I will give you a scholarship to further your secondary school Education,” Babu Owino commented.

The MP, however, did not reveal Okanga's KCPE results nor state whether he reached out to the ODM fanatic who sat exams at Mumias Primary School in Kakamega.

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary and DAP-K party leader, Eugene Wamalwa, was among the politicians who joined Babu in congratulating Okanga.

“Congratulations, my friend Nuru Okanga for passing your KCPE exams with flying colors! We are proud of you and are the People of Western, Kakamega County, Matungu Constituency, Kholera Ward!

"Yours is an inspiring story of never being late to validate your dreams,” Wamlawa commented on his social media page, X.

A few minutes after the announcement of the 2023 KCPE results, Okanga was trending on social media with allegations that he scored a total of 401 marks.

The ODM fan, however, clarified that the reports and the index number tagged were false and misleading.

"That index number does not belong to me. I am still trying to get my results because the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has yet to release my results," Okanga told Kenyans.co.ke

This year's top candidate scored an impressive 428 out of 500 as the country marked its last KCPE exams prior to transitioning to the Competency-Based Curriculum.

However, 9,000 candidates were locked out of the last exams, necessitating Education CS Ezekiel Machogu to arrange a special exam for them in January 2024.

Ministry of Education also raised concerns over the tripled number of candidates who scored below 99 marks in this year's exams as compared to the year 2022.
