Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Tuesday shared a series of photos of himself at Harvard University in the United States.

The former Governor and ODM Deputy Party Leader shared five photos on his Instagram Stories with the distinct one being a portrait inside a class at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Four other separate photos showed the politician posing with the school's other students, a flag of the School of Arts and Sciences as well as the statue of the University's founder John Harvard.

The politician has been out of the limelight for the better part of the last year since President William Ruto took over the reins.

Towards the end of last year, speculations about his disappearance had been rife that he was pursuing a political-related course at a university.

Joho's visit to lecture halls at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, therefore, fired up the speculations.

Harvard, which is the top-ranked university in the United States, is known for its quality education and churning out politicians, including eight US presidents.

The Kennedy School of Government is specifically ranked third worldwide for its public affairs programs and top in health policy and management by the US News and World Report.

Meanwhile, Joho has previously run into academic headwinds after his Degree from Kampala University was placed under scrutiny.

In 2014, the Uganda National Council of Higher Education demanded the withdrawal of his Business Administration Degree in Human Resource Management arguing that he had not physically attended any classes.

Then Kampala University Vice Chancellor Badru Kateregga, however, defended the former Governor emphasising that the degree was genuine.

“This is a very bright student and that is why he managed to get a Second Upper class where others jumped with lowers and passes.

"The same was genuinely awarded and Kampala University Senate cannot and will not recall, cancel or revoke an award it deems valid,” the VC stated.

Later, the Governor graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce -  Second Class honours, Lower Division, at Gratsa University in Thika in 2018.
