A widowed woman in Isukha North, Shinyalu Constituency, Kakamega county is decrying living in a dilapidated environment after the house she was living in got demolished.

The woman whose house was demolished by her blood sister has resorted to living alone in a tent, and is now calling on well-wishers to help her out.

She was widowed five years ago after her husband died in Malinya, Ikolomani Constituency where she was married.

According to the woman, when her husband died, her in-laws did not want her living in their home hence she had to make the choice of going back to her parents house in Shinyalu, Kakamega which was now demolished.

“I am living in this tent because I have nowhere else to go, my husband died a long time ago in Malinya, Ikolomani Constituency and I am not wanted in that home,” she stated in an interview.

She added that she had lived with her mother who would later die living in their home before the unfortunate incidents involving her sister.

“I have been living in my parents' homestead for five years. My mother died leaving me here. My sister chased me from our home and demolished my parents' houses,” she added.

Further, she stated that she had tried getting help from people and even spending time in their homes after the incident. However, many had now gotten tired of her and even chased her. Building the tent, she said, was her last resort as she was now limited of options.

“That is why I decided to make this tent with plastic bags and live in it. After visiting people and telling them my story, many got tired of me and sent me away,” the lady added.

A look of it from outside, the make-shift tent that the lady made appears to only have plastic bags from the sides as well as on the roof.

She is now asking well-wishers to come for her aid since she is living in an environment that is dangerous for her as a woman both security-wise as well as health-wise.

"I have gone through alot, even eating is a problem, this year I decided to just live outside by my parents graveyard, some people even thought it was a ghost. A well wisher gave me these plastic bags that I used to make the tent," she stated.

Several people have urged the county government of Kakamega to come to the aid of the lady so that she can get a better place to live.
