Former KTN News anchor Betty Kyalo has opened up in response to reports that items from her popular salon in Kilimani have been put up for auction.

The auctioneer, Keysian Auctioneers, had put up the salon on auction after Kyallo reportedly failed to settle rent arrears.

In her message shared with her fans, Kyallo revealed that running the business had become difficult while landlords refused to reduce rent for establishments despite a tough economy.

"Obviously running a business in Kenya has become so difficult," she revealed.

"Landlords don't want to reduce rent and it becomes a huge burden on businesses that are struggling because of the economic slowdown. I let it go."

She further revealed that a new barber shop she opened at Upper Hill begins its operations today.

"I am happier. I sleep better. My peace of mind is more important than a name. I'm good," the former news anchor added.

"Also after two months of expansion, we reopen Aftershave by Flair, Upper Hill, La Baita. Gentlemen come through. I will be there today."

The auctioneers announced that the over 20 items at the salon will be up on auction on April 17 this year with interested bidders invited to view them any day of the week.

The items include; 3 pieces of dismantled wall shelves, a massage bed stand,  a chandelier, a small serve rack and a white shelf with a cabinet stand.

Others were; seats attached with sinks, a blue cushioned stool, a Relmon shower, a Hiluck video recorder, 9 CCTV cameras, assorted towels, a Huawei rooter, a top massage stone heater, a Nunix water dispenser, a small foot massage, a Mac coffee maker, a small wooden stool, and two tables (one broken) and a round mirror.

In 2023, Kyalo had announced that her salon and barbershop empire was expanding to include environs outside Nairobi.

Soon after, a franchise was opened in Meru Town under the name After Shave by Flair at the Greenwood Mall.
