Governor Gachagua's Wish for Uhuru to Sing Along to his Favourite Song Comes True During Burial

The late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua's brother on Monday revealed a rather unique request the deceased politician had made on how his burial would be conducted.

According to the deceased governor's brother, Rigathi Gachagua, Nderitu had wanted two Kikuyu gospel musicians to perform at his burial service and for President Uhuru Kenyatta to sing along to his favourite tune.

Rigathi told mourners that his brother had seen his death and he had prepared fully for the send-off.

"He was a good singer and he told me to look for two singers to perform two songs he loved on his behalf. And he told me to tell the President to sing along, because he knew you (Kenyatta) were going to come and you understand Kikuyu songs," Rigathi stated in his address at the service in Mathira, Nyeri County.

On Monday afternoon, the burial service was interrupted for the two musicians to sing the song that the governor loved most.

True to the request, President Kenyatta was captured singing along to Carol Wanjiru's Munduiriri hit song.

At the same event, Rigathi revealed that late Governor Gachagua's health problems worsened when Nyeri Members of County Assembly (MCAs) moved an impeachment motion against him.

He disclosed that in September last year, his brother (Nderitu) was booked for a serious chemotherapy in London but declined to go because he was supposed to appear in the Senate and defend himself against the motion.
