Jubilee Abandons Alfred Keter

The Jubilee coalition has vowed not to support an impeachment motion, by one of their own, against Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

The motion prepared by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter sought to remove Waiguru from office on grounds of corruption allegations in her Ministry.

Addressing the press at parliament buildings on Thursday, the ruling coalition pointed fingers at the Opposition claiming Keter was hired to table the motion in the National Assembly.

Majority Leader Aden Duale protected CS Waiguru saying that she was a whistle blower in the graft at the National Youth Service where Sh791 Million is reported to have been lost.

Keter had accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of double standards in the war against corruption, saying CS Waiguru ought to step aside to allow for investigations as other Cabinet Secretaries mentioned in graft allegations.

Keter, however, remains with the backing of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy legislators and scores of United Republican Party MPs who had also demanded for the resignation of Waiguru.

CORD leader Raila Odinga also asked the embattled CS to resign, saying that her name was ejected from the list of shame presented to parliament by the President, in which some Cabinet Secretaries mentioned were later suspended.

The Opposition has repeatedly questioned why the President seemed to favour CS Waiguru even after money was reported lost under her docket.
