Jubilee Leaders Meet in Deputy President William Ruto's Karen Home to Strategize

Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen home has in the past week been a beehive of activity in what pundits claim was a mobilisation strategy by the Jubilee Party ahead of the August 8 polls.

According to Ruto’s spokesman David Mugonyi, DP Ruto held a flurry of meetings at his Karen home with Jubilee leaders from the Coast, Western and Ukambani regions.

Mugonyi revealed that Ruto was responsible for political mobilisation in Jubilee and had intensified meetings with key figures from regions considered NASA strongholds.

He added that the meetings were meant to strategize, preview and set new targets on Jubilee’s progress in NASA strongholds.

“The DP has met the leaders who have also met the President. This is part of Jubilee’s campaign strategy,” Mugonyi told a local daily.

The spokesman highlighted that Ruto’s role as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election point-man was broad-based and more meetings would be held.

Ruto on Thursday last week met a delegation of leaders from Ukambani and Western regions at the Karen office where he called on the leaders to join hands in supporting the government on its development agenda across the country.

Ruto, accompanied by National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale, stated that Jubilee was making inroads in NASA strongholds and was optimistic about a landslide victory.

"In 2013, it was difficult to talk about Jubilee in Kisii, Coast and Western but this time round we are doing well as our development track record speaks for itself,” said Ruto.

Ruto is the first occupant of the Sh450 Million deputy president residence in Karen, Nairobi after Jubilee won the 2013 General Election.

It reportedly boasts of among others, an exquisite office block, expansive garage, state of the art swimming pool, gazebo and staff residence.
