Kenyan Jailed in US for 15 Years

A Kenyan has been jailed for 15 years by a United States court in Miami for plotting to provide recruits and money to three major terrorist organisations.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Mohamed Hussain Said pleaded guilty and admitted to conspiring to support terrosist groups the Al-Shabaab in Somalia, Al-Qaeda in Iraq and al-Nusrah in Syria.

It is alleged that the terror suspect received Sh1.2 Million from his partner in crime, Gufran Ahmed Mohammed.

Mr Said admitted to recruiting in order to attack within the US.

Defence lawyer Silvia Pinera-Vacquez asked the court to reduce the eight-year sentence but Assistant US Attorney Brian Frazier insisted on the maximum 15-year jail term.

According to Frazier, the accused had disclosed that he had wished to assassinate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she visited Kenya in 2009, however, there was no move to execute the plan.
