A close friend of Deputy President William Ruto, Donald Kipkorir, has sent a caution letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta following an announcement by KANU leaders that they were not willing to support DP Ruto.
The popular Nairobi lawyer penned a letter titled: Don't Mess with H.E William Ruto, seemingly warning President Kenyatta against double-crossing Ruto following the support from KANU.
The flamboyant lawyer told the Head of State that DP Ruto was still the kingpin of the Rift Valley region despite the current wrangles being witnessed. Kipkorir added that Kenyatta ought to keep Ruto in his good books.
"Let it go on record that H.E Ruto is the pre-eminent leader of my people, the Kalenjin Nation. Kenya I first and foremost made of ethno-nations. Kenya is an artificial colonial construct. Our defaults, therefore, the tribe first.
"Each tribe-nation has its ruling family or individual. Most tribes are failed nations and have no leaders and have to follow the directions given by Kikuyu, Luo and Kalenjin nations," the letter read in part.
Kipkorir reminded the President of the 2013 agreement where he picked Ruto as his running mate, highlighting that the arrangement essentially made Ruto, a 'co-president'.
The lawyer urged President Kenyatta to be careful on the support he gets as the country heads to the next poll, noting that political leaders must not set conditions to offer their support.
"Let those who want you support you, support you without behaving like the spoiled Herod Princess who asked for the head of John the Baptist in a platter,"
On Thursday, KANU firmly stated that they were supporting President's Kenyatta's reelection but noted that they were against DP Ruto.
