Uhuru Fixed Ruto, Raila Says

The political tug of war revolving around Deputy President William Ruto's ICC case has taken a new twist, with allegations that it was President Uhuru Kenyatta who fixed his Jubilee counterpart at the Hague-based court now emerging.

Speaking on Tuesday, CORD leader Raila Odinga stated that Gatundu Legislator Moses Kuria was working under President Kenyatta in the plot to have Ruto implicated.

Odinga said that Kuria worked for Mr Kenyatta as a political assistant between 2008 and 2014 and was based at the UK Centre at Baden Powell House in Nairobi.

The Opposition Leader made reference to Kuria's confession of procuring ICC witnesses to nail DP Ruto, noting that the MP was working under Kenyatta's orders.

“Moses Kuria was an employee and a political assistant to Mr Uhuru Kenyatta when he arranged the procuring of witnesses to fix Deputy President William Ruto. The work Kuria did during the course of his employment must be presumed to have been done for and on behalf of his principal, Uhuru Kenyatta,” Odinga stated.

Raila challenged the President to come out and tell the truth on the matter.

“The time has come for Uhuru to come out and tell Kenyans what his role was in the fixing of his deputy Mr Ruto,” the Nation quotes Mr Odinga said.

Raila's remarks come amid a heightened debate surrounding the ICC case against DP Ruto with accusations being traded across political divide.

The Gatundu legislator set the ball rolling after he owned up to having been involved in the procuring of false witnesses to have Mr Ruto charged at the court.

The utterances by Kuria flared out into a political war pitting Jubillee politicians against their CORD counterparts, after the MP went ahead to implicate Opposition members – Raila Odinga, Martha Karua and Anyang' Nyong'o – in the fixing of Ruto at ICC.
