17 Counties Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta Will Not Visit in His 12-Day Intense Campaign Tour

President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be visiting 17 counties in his intense 12-day campaign tour that kicked off on Tuesday.

According to a schedule released by State House, the President and Deputy President William Ruto will cover 30 counties and make 400 stops before the official campaign period ends on August 6.

The counties that he will not visit are Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Taita Taveta, Lamu, Kwale, Makueni, Machakos, Nyamira, Isiolo, Tana River, Vihiga, Nandi, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Turkana.

11 of the counties left out in the President's itinerary are regions where the Opposition gathered majority votes in the 2013 election, therefore, are perceived as National Super Alliance (NASA) strongholds.

Nonetheless, the President has previously toured the counties he will not be visiting again over the period remaining before the elections.

The action plan is a calculated move by the ruling party to build muscle in its perceived strongholds and convince the undecided voters to side with them.

The strategy has also been taken up by the NASA brigade which will be embarking on a meet-the-people tour organised for at least 35 counties.

The five co-principals will each visit three to four places in three counties every day until the close of the official campaign period.

The latest polls have the President and his main challenger, NASA's Raila Odinga, locked in a neck-and-neck battle that will only be decided by the 1.2 million undecided voters.
