Rev Timothy Njoya Reveals How Miguna Welcomed Him in Canada After Saba Saba

Retired Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) minister Timothy Njoya has revealed that National Resistance Movement (NRM-K) general Miguna Miguna is a kind person.

Posting on his Twitter, Njoya noted: "Hardly anybody knows that Miguna Miguna is a great soul.

"He was in the vanguard Kenyan group that led by Onyango Oloo and Adongo Ogony welcomed me in Canada when I went there for treatment after the Saba Saba impasse," explained Njoya.

The retired cleric further shared a statement which shows that he, Njoya, was expected to address the Kenyan community in Toronto, Ontario on August 28, 1997.

"Topping the agenda will be the struggle for democratic reforms and the role of the National Convention Executive Council of which Njoya is a member," the statement reads in part.

Miguna, popularly known as a fiery lawyer, has similarities with Njoya, who in the 1990s, was known for being one of the church leaders who publicly spoke and protested against the autocracy and brutality of the then President Daniel Arap Moi.

Njoya had used his sermons to call for the re-introduction of multiparty democracy and strongly defended the freedom of expression, leaving him arrested multiple times.

Miguna on his part refused to acknowledge President Uhuru Kenyatta as the legitimate president of Kenya after the August 2017 polls.

He was among NASA leaders who were present during the controversial swearing-in of NASA principal Raila Odinga, an act that saw him deported to Canada.
