DP William Ruto Urges Jubilee Leaders to Focus on Achieving Big Four Agenda

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday urged Jubilee leaders to focus on President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four Agenda.

Speaking in Baringo County, Ruto noted that the current talks about a referendum are ill-advised and only meant to divide the country.

The DP exclaimed: "That is why our principal focus is on the Big Four. We cannot be politicking everyday."

Ruto further called on the leaders to stop engaging in divisive politics and focus on development.

According to the Deputy President, the Jubilee Party is keen on bringing Kenyans together and "now is the time to develop the country."

President Kenyatta on Friday also rejected the push for a Constitutional referendum spear-headed by Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The president stated that he was not interested in making countrywide tours to advocate for the position, instead, he would focus.

"I have no time to run around telling people to change the Constitution. It won’t solve the problems we have. But engaging with the private sector on manufacturing like we are doing (I) will," the president stated.

President Kenyatta was speaking at State House, Nairobi, during a follow-up meeting to last week’s 8th Presidential Round Table Forum that brought together stakeholders from government and the Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).

Additionally, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen noted that  Jubilee is against the calls for a referendum.

“As a party, we are focused on fulfilling the pledges we made to Kenyans. That remains our main goal and it will not change any soon,” Mr Murkomen asserted.
