Digital StrategistDennis Itumbi, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, disclosed details of the alleged system, fighting Deputy President William Ruto from ascending into the presidency in 2022, and the force behind the DP's escalating woes.

Itumbi, while on NTV's Press Pass hosted by anchor Mark Maasai, detailed that the system was deeply rooted and was led by anonymous powerful people outside government.

Ruto on Saturday, March 7, at the burial ceremony of the late Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei, detailed that there was a plot to lock him out of the presidency, with the DCI offices being used to lead the onslaught.

"I want to tell them, maybe you will have to kill me but nothing will stop me, I will not look back or give up. I know there is a bigger scheme to destroy my office and ensure I do not go anywhere. The schemers are trying to threaten, undermine and demean my office in a bid to stop me, they may have the system but I have God," a visibly angry Ruto cried foul.

Ruto apart from lamenting on the plot to lock him out of State House had also proclaimed that his officer, Kenei, was murdered to scare him and separate him from his family.

"Who is this system? It's a cabal of people who sit in government but act formally on several issues. There is only one person who in my knowledge came face to face with it, President Uhuru Kenyatta, before the 2013 elections and he ended up telling us that those guys were demons.

"Another person is Raila Odinga as Prime Minister (in the Grand Coalition Government with Retired President Mwai Kibaki). When Odinga complained about it, he lamented on lack of carpet and toilets. Ruto is complaining about the system targetting his life. Everyone has a view about the system, but only one man is complaining about a serious issue," Itumbi stated.

He, however, averred that he didn't have knowledge of whether Ruto had raised the issue with Kenyatta. He also recalled the assassination plot against Ruto in 2019, arguing that Ruto had raised issues regarding his security several times.

"There is a PR strategy between the system and another smaller system (media) aimed at smearing Ruto's name through publications," Itumbi added.

Citizen TV's director of strategy and innovation, Linus Kaikai, while on News Gang on Thursday, March 12, also debunked the system narrative, opining that Ruto's claims were valid despite the DP defending the system before.

The system in Kenya can mean a lot. I discovered this while on duty as a journalist when we ran a story with a cryptic title from a song and received furious remarks. However, I never knew which system ya majambazi we offended. The system points one towards an establishment or deep state. The latter is associated with the US intelligence agencies, but in Kenya, one would assume that it would the intelligence agencies but it is not the case.

"It is associated with a tight-knit circle made up of power meddling individuals, some holding power on state positions while others derive influence through political or blood influence through political or even blood connections to those in power. It must remain faceless, nameless and amorphous and that is why Ruto's claims are valid," Kaikai stated.
