Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Sunday, October 11, reunited with prominent businessman Jimmy Wanjigi at a church in Bondo.

Odinga joined other faithful in attending a church service at St Michaels and All Angels Cathedral in Bondo, Siaya county.

The sermon was delivered by the General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) Rev. Chris Kinyanjui.

Odinga was joined by the CEO of Kwacha Group of Companies Jimmy Wanjigi, Siaya Senator James Orengo and former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe during the Sunday morning service.

Wanjigi famously endorsed Odinga's National Super Alliance during the 2017 General Elections and was at one time roughed up by police for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms.

The businessman has had an influence in politics, and was a staunch supporter of Prof George Saitoti’s presidential bid until his death in a helicopter crash in 2012. Wanjigi then shifted his support to Jubilee in 2013.

He was instrumental in brokering a deal between then TNA leader Uhuru Kenyatta and his URP counterpart William Ruto, which subsequently led to the formation of Jubilee Party.

He would later shift his alligience to former Prime Minister Odinga.

Wanjigi and Raila have not been seen together in public for some time now though the two donated foodstuffs to residents of Kibra in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic back in April.

Their reunion comes less than two years to the 2022 General Elections.

The meeting came days after police teargassed a church service on Sunday, October 4, in Kenol, Muranga ahead of Deputy President William Ruto's visit.

A section of Kenyans wondered why the government was allowing Odinga to attend a church service when they could not accord Ruto the same privillage the previous week.
