A police officer was among two people who were beaten up and tied by residents in Homa Bay Town after the officer allegedly stormed into a neighbour's home.

According to a police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the officer and the unidentified civilian waylaid a boda boda rider who was on his way home.

"Upon reaching a junction near his home he was overtaken by the trailing motorcycle and immediately blocked where he fell down and was arrested by the two persons who were trailing him.

"Both were in police uniform and ordered him (rider) to board their unidentified motorcycle as a pillion passenger as the other rode victim's motorcycle behind them," the report revealed.

The two allegedly took the boda boda rider to another home in a different village where they demanded money.

The report added that when the homeowner had no money to give, one of the suspects drew a panga and threatened to harm the boda boda rider.

Sensing danger, the victim raised alarm, and members of the public rushed to the scene.

The residents then beat up the officer and his accomplice before tying them up.

Other police officers were deployed to the house where they found the two injured and bleeding.

The suspects were escorted to Nyangiela sub-county hospital where they were treated and discharged.

They were later booked at Oyugis Police Station as detectives carry out investigations.
