Comedian Timothy Kimani alias Njugush narrated how a Nairobi landlord escaped with his first salary, just after landing an acting gig at KTN's Hapa Kule News.

Speaking to Cleaning the Airwaves on Youtube, he detailed how his psyche of trusting people easily came back to haunt him.

"I got my first cheque, which was Ksh30,000. Feeling exuberated, I instantly told my father I wanted to move out," Njugush entailed.

The comedian pointed out that he and his current wife Celestine Ndinda moved to a bedsitter along City Cabanas. He had to pay a total amount of Ksh20,000 inclusive of deposit and utility expenses.

"Having not paid rent before, I was naive and easily trusted the landlord. I was confident knowing that I had covered my monthly rent," Njugush affirmed noting that he had just graduated from university.

Later that month, he found a different landlord who had locked his house, faulting him for not paying the rent.

He could not justify paying the Ksh20,000 since he had not been issued with a receipt by the former landlord. Feeling dispirited, he had to resort to other ways of getting the funds to pay again.

Further, he entailed the reasons as to why he decided to quit his internship program at Kenyans Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) after only two weeks.

While working for KBC, he was tasked with translating news from English to Kikuyu for Coro FM.

Njugush narrated that his decision was influenced by his passion for acting as he did not want to lose a slot at an upcoming drama play held in Mombasa. According to the actor, the trip was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and he could not miss out on a free trip.

The comedian came into the limelight through KTN's Hapa Kule News show which earned him the popular moniker Njugush.

Crediting the opportunity to fellow actor Abel Mutua, he narrated that the show earned him another slot in The Real Househelps of Kawangware.

Njugush however, quit the show in May 2016 noting that the changes in scripting and directing drove him to make the decision.

"It was a beautiful mistake because it enabled me to tread the deep waters that eventually opened new doors for me to which I am eternally grateful," Njugush stated.
