Victor Otieno Maura, a retired teacher, has earned national recognition for his innovative contribution to community-based entrepreneurship by establishing a palm oil pressing unit at his home in Siaya County.

His initiative has transformed the local economy by creating a new value chain for palm oil production and processing, positioning Siaya as a hub for small-scale agro-industrial innovation.

Aldrine Kibet

Aldrine Kibet has emerged as one of Kenya’s most promising young footballers, making headlines in 2025 after signing a four-year deal with Spanish side Celta Vigo in July.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who first rose to prominence at St. Anthony’s Boys High School in Kitale, now features for RC Celta Fortuna, the club’s Under 19 team. His move marked an important milestone for Kenyan football and a global recognition of local talent.

Wanjira Wanjiru is a human rights activist and community mobiliser, best known for her grassroots advocacy in Nairobi’s informal settlements.

Wanjira became popular at the height of the Gen Z-led protests in 2024, where she openly came out to protest police brutality and the Finance Bill 2024, where she was seen to be publicly telling off an officer who attempted to arrest her.

Lilian Odira is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres race.

She first gained national recognition in 2024 when she became Kenya’s national 800 metres champion and went on to claim a silver medal at the African Championships held in Douala, Cameroon. The same year, Odira qualified for the Paris Olympics, cementing her place among Kenya’s elite middle-distance runners.
