Mohamud Yusuf Haji, the uncle of the National Intelligence Service Director General Noordin Haji, is dead.
The death of Haji, who died in Mombasa, was confirmed by his brother Yusuf Haji as well as the Garissa County Assembly Speaker Abdi Idle Gure on Sunday, August 17. The cause of his death remains unclear.
"I was informed a few hours ago that my older brother, Mohamud Yussuf Haji, passed away in Mombasa," Mohamud Haji's brother stated. He, however, did not reveal the cause of death of the businessman.
In his statement, the speaker described Haji, who was also the uncle to Garissa Senator Abdul Haji, as a humble and hard-working businessman whose life was marked by dignity and respect.
The speaker noted that the death of Mohamud will not only be a great loss to his family but also to the Garissa community.
"The late Mzee Mohamud was a humble and hard-working businessman who carried himself with dignity and earned the respect of all who knew him," the speaker stated.
"His passing is not only a great loss to his family but also to the wider Garissa community, who admired him for his humility and calm demeanour," he added.

"We commiserate with our DPL Simba Arati following the loss of his sister Isabella Arati," the statement from ODM stated.
"Burial is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, 10/8) at her farm in Isinya, Kajiado County, next to Entarakwet Hotel. As a party, we stand with the Arati family during this period of grief," it added.
