The National Land Commission (NLC) has announced deletions, corrections, and additions to 49 parcels of land for the construction of the Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road.
In a gazette notice dated November 14, NLC Chairperson Gershom Otachi said that the changes will be made on behalf of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), which is overseeing the construction of the road.
The commission intends to delete 8 parcels of land and add 19 other parcels to cater for the project. The commission is also in the process of making corrections to 22 other parcels, which have either been deleted or added to the project previously.
"In pursuance of the Land Act and further to Gazette Notices No. 8482, 10259 of 2020, 14011, 14012 of 2021, 16000 of 2022, and 1641 of 2023, the National Land Commission intends to acquire additional parcels of land on behalf of KeNHA," the notice read.
"The National Government intends to delete, correct, and add the following parcels of land for the Construction of the Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road in Mombasa County," it added.
Otachi has encouraged affected individuals to ensure that they visit the commission's offices in Nairobi or at the National Land Commission County Co-ordinator’s Offices in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties to view plans for the affected land.
Furthermore, the commission said that it will, from January 20-23, 2026, be hearing compensation claims for those whose land has been affected by the project. The exact avenue, time, and date for the hearing can be accessed through the gazette notice.
"In pursuance of the Land Act, Part VIII, and further to Gazette Notices No. 8482,10259 of 2020,14011,14012 of 2021,16000 of 2022, and 1641 of 2023, NLC, on behalf of KeNHA, gives notice of inquiry for the hearing of the claim to compensation for interested parties in the land required for the dualling of Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-kwa Kadzengo Kilifi Road," the notice read.
The announcement comes three weeks after the commission announced plans to acquire a 0.1818-hectare piece of land in Nairobi, which is owned by a company for the Eastern Missing Link Road Project.
In a gazette notice dated September 26, 2025, the acquisition of the land, which belongs to a company, will be made on behalf of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), which will oversee the construction of the road.
The commission noted that anyone affected by the process will be required to submit a written claim for compensation to NLC offices, accompanied by other documents such as ID, land ownership documents, and bank account details.
"In pursuance of section 112 and 162 (2) of the Land Act, 2012, Part VIII and further to Gazette Notice Nos. 1519 of 2015, 7587 of 2015 and 9341 of 2015, the National Land Commission, on behalf of KURA, gives notice that the National government intends to add the following parcel of land for the project and further, an inquiry to hearing claims to compensation for the interested parties," the commission stated.
