Uhuru Kenyatta Promises to Accept Supreme Court Verdict on Presidential Petition

President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court judges if they fail to rule in his favour in the presidential petition.

Kenyatta on Thursday stated that he would respect the outcome of the case filed by the National Super Alliance (NASA) to allow the country move forward.

The President called on NASA leader Raila Odinga to do the same should the decision, which is expected at the end of next week, affirm Kenyatta's win.

Kenyatta and the IEBC, who are the main respondents in the petition, are expected to submit their affidavits by the end of the day after which the Court will hold a pre-trial conference on Saturday.

On Tuesday, renowned Economist and NASA technical advisor David Ndii indicated that the Alliance might opt for mass action should the seven-judge bench rule against them.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Ndii defended the move to call for mass action noting that it was based on a need to seek a free democratic space where there was no oppression of citizens.

He noted that the Opposition's decision to move to the Supreme Court was not only aimed at overturning President Kenyatta's win but also to show the World what really happened during the electoral process.

Odinga had earlier on launched a national campaign for truth & electoral justice in Kenya urging his supporters to desist from the culture of accepting and moving on and ensure that their votes counted.

He insisted that the concluded General Election was flawed calling on Kenyans to resist what he called "computer-generated results”.
